Please reach us at deepbluefit.contact@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
As a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, I have heard this question probably more than any other single question. The short answer is: YES! First and foremost though, we need to make sure you don't have any contraindications to exercising during your pregnancy. We will find out this, and more information about you during your initial consultation- which is always free. But to answer your main question: Yes, exercise during a "normal" and healthy pregnancy is not only completely SAFE, it is also very much recommended. Regular physical activity during a pregnancy has been shown to lower the risk for Gestational Diabetes and the possibility of needing a C-section delivery. It has also been shown to lower the occurrence of pelvic pain and lower back pain. Additionally, exercise is also a great way to boost energy, reduce anxiety, and improve the quality of your sleep!
As an added measure of reassurance, we have the ability to listen to baby's heartbeat at each training session! This is one little perk of seeing a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner as your Personal Trainer!
*Note: we are not licensed therapists, and do not claim to be- if we feel at any point as though you need professional therapy, we will absolutely recommend that-
We realize that mental and physical health go hand-in-hand. If we were to only focus on your physical fitness, we would be leaving out a huge chunk of your overall well-being. Every program we offer addresses more than just physical goals- we also focus on mental toughness, resilience, and any fears/reservations you have that could be affecting your life as a whole.
In our Body-Mind-Soul Program, we focus on your MINDSET as the most pivotal factor in achieving both your fitness goals as well as your life goals. We start here and we work through what makes you, YOU, how you can improve, and what could be holding you back. Fitness is incorporated into each program, but this program uses fitness as an adjunct to mindset work.
For all of our potential clients, we will start with an initial consultation where we will discuss your experience with exercise/sports, etc as well as any current or recent injuries, illnesses, or other health conditions you have that could potentially affect your training program. If a potential client does have a current health condition (such as pregnancy or hypertension) that could impact training, we may ask for a doctor's note prior to proceeding with exercise and nutrition counseling. It would be beneficial to know any serious allergies you have or any life-sustaining medications you take, just in the rare case of a medical emergency while training. Pregnant clients will have specific documents to review and have a doctor's permission to continue with training during their pregnancy- this will ensure safety on all levels and allow your trainer to provide the best possible care for you during our time together!
Deep Blue Fitness will treat all information provided by client as part of initial assessment and enrollment in program as confidential, and such information will not be shared with anyone without clients' written permission, (except in the case of a medical emergency).
